Marian Claro Ms. Catena English 9, Period 1 January 5, 2016 Communism Socialism: Communism and Socialism are interchangeably used a lot, it s mostly because they are similar. They both want to promote equality to remove social classes from society. They also, have the same ideology. Communism and Socialism at first can sound very appealing with everyone in the community doing their duty and completing their responsibilities toward the same communal goal. However, some countries have tried it like China, Cuba, North Korea, and Vietnam, many if not most have failed in the past and or have become dictatorships, which made reforms in the countries nearly impossible to complete. Although,†¦show more content†¦Furthermore, if one discovers the amount of advancements that takes place in socialist and communist countries. One can see that there is very little advancements being accomplished because of how the workers expect their basic needs to be given by the community. This causes the required work to be achieved, but no more progress is obtained than what is needed. Which makes advancements be limited, since they are receiving what s necessary, so that makes them see no point in moving into other activities. This is portrayed in the novel, Animal Farm, when snowball tries to assemble committees because he wants to tame the wild animals so, he can educate the animals by teaching them how to read and write. He also wants to help organize a new movement of advancing into multiple projects for each animal group but, the committees end up being unsuccessful. Like it exclaims in that, On the whole these projects were a failure (Orwell 20). The attempt to tame the wild creatures, or instance, broke down almost immediately. They continued to behave very much as before, and when treated with generosity simply took advantage of it. The animals in animal farm don’t have inspirations to do anything else than to focus on harvesting so their need of having plentiful of food can be met. Furthermore, socialism and communism can be easily comparable to each other when one examines their standards on equality. They both want to either eliminate or narrow down social

I Am Lost A Loved One For Cancer Essay - 1259 Words

Have you ever lost a loved one to cancer? Well I have, I lost my grandma to breast cancer in 2012. She was only 64 when she passed away. I found that watching someone you love fight such a horrible disease makes you feel helpless. It makes you feel terrible when you see your loved one lying in a bed dying and there isn’t anything you can do to make it any better. When my grandma was 58 years old she went for a routine mammogram, while getting that done they found a lump in one of her breasts. She went in soon after finding the lump for a biopsy. Unfortunately the lump came back cancerous. For me and my family it was a very scary time. But for my grandma, she stayed very positive and optimistic, which made me a little hopeful. My grandma then went in and had a radical mastectomy. While she was in surgery the doctor checked her lymph nodes and found that it had already spread into the nodes under her arm. They did remove some of her lymph nodes in hopes that they could keep it from spreading throughout her system. The surgery seemed like it took a long time but really only took a few hours. We were all so worried about if she would make it through surgery and how she would feel after. Grandma had to stay in the hospital for three days recovering from surgery. She was in severe pain so they kept her on medication to help her cope with the pain. The medication she was on made her drowsy and sometimes really funny. Business Tourism Activities Tourism Industry

Question: Describe about the Business Tourism Activities for Tourism Industry. Answer: Introduction Tourism is the activities of people traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for leisure, business or other purposes for not more than one consecutive year. Tourism is an industry that requires customers need and desires as customer satisfaction. South Bank is one of the tourism places in Brisbane that everyone needs to experiences even the local or tourist. South bank give the experience to enjoy culture, shopping, dining or simply relaxing. South Bank has a destination that tourist need to visit, such as The Parklands, Little Stanley Street, Grey Street and Cultural Precinct, River Quay. One of the must visits at Parklands is streets beach, it is known as South Bank icon. Sustainability Management Issues Sustainability management is defined as a way of sustainable in term of way to.. South Bank Corporation is continually working on sustainable future to create South Bank to be sustainable and it is expected to be the first community in Australia to achieve a Silver Certification from EarthCheck and international sustainability certification of travel and tourism. This field trip report will discuss the management issues at South Bank. There are two main issues, water usage and waste with the recommendation to the sustainability issue. Water Usage Water is really important to South Bank Parklands because all the resources are relying on the water to maintain all the public area. At the current South Bank are using potable water to top up swimming pool and backwash for the toilet flushing in varied public toilets. Potable water is unable to use it for irrigation or water features, as water in the pool was limited. The water for irrigation is declined from 250 kL/day to 50 kL/day (Engineers Australia, 2014). The general manager at South Bank is also trying to minimise the water usage by developed Rainbank, it is also known as South Banks innovative stormwater harvesting and reuse centre. Rain Bank was built in 2011 and it can store water up to 77 megalitres of stormwater each year, which is enough for South Bank to provide 85% of Parklands irrigation and potable water (Sustainability at South Bank, 2013). The total amount of construction cost approximately $9M and it cost around $2.00 per KL for the maintenance and operations. ( Engineers Australia, 2014). South Bank had a decision to remove mangroves and this situation will affect water quality in the Brisbane River. Based on the University of Queensland mangroves of remove mangroves would have an impact to Brisbane River water, erosion mitigation and wildlife (The Sydney Morning Herald, 2010). Waste Another issue at South Bank is a waste, the corporation is finding the way to reduce the number of waste each day as this would have an impact on the environment. The project they have in place is to have a recycling programs, such as fluorescent lighting, batteries, paper products, green waste, oil glass and aluminium products and use bio-friendly products instead (sustainability at southbank, 2016). As well as, trying to install recycling bins around South Bank for the public to use. The issue from waste is also a loss of valuable resources and that can cost to the community including; landfill requirement, resource and energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions. Despite the way of managing water resource will have a long term impact on sustainability for the local and business. That is because the number of water usage is increasing everyday from the tourist and local, so this is the main thing that South Bank corporation need to focus on water efficiency. Recommendations Sustainable tourism development, the concept began for the objective of giving recognition to the economical side of tourism which should be made important and its impacts. To be honest tourism destroys natural resource by exposing it to mankind. Sustainable tourism promotions are made for addressing issues like wastages and water usage negligence. The concept has been well embraced. But the theoretical link in between sustainable tourism and the actual context is not understood. With the increased importance of tourism one can accept that the longevity of any resource depends on how diligently it is used. The need of achieving balance in between large scale environmental interest and commercial is high. Due to the intricacies of various products of the tourism industry and its fragmentation way of organization, there is inconsistency in sustainable tourism on a global scale. Hence, many times the structure of tourism industry is not fitting well with the principles of alternative de velopment and hence it is suggested that it should be followed (Berno, 2011). The more the awareness for natural resources are increasing for the coming generations, practices which are environmental friendly and sustainability are gaining more and more attention and importance (Honey, 2008). In the opinion of (Sloan et al, 2009), employees, customers and stakeholders have high increasing expectations from this industry. This is in relation to responsible behavioral practices, concern for environment, social and environmental subjects. Pollution free workflow encouraging sustainable business practices is of utmost importance from the stakeholders point of view as well. Their response has showed enhanced interest in this field. It is true that more and more hotels today use sustainable work practices. But the number of such hotels can be counted in the minorities. Efforts and costs needed for this can be blamed to be the reason for slow adoption of such practices. The government however is making extraordinary measures to preserve the world's ecosystem in every manner possible. Conclusion: The entire field trips a study which focus on the encouragement and recommendations of the government for using controlled approaches so it harnesses limited negative effect on nature. Various institutional instruments of economical nature are used to its greater potential for overcoming deficiencies in the market for driving tourism and enterprise towards better business practices and sustainability. Policy makers, investors and stakeholders are developing an insight with such studies for implementing new sustainable ways of tourism development. Reflection South Bank over long years has held the credit to have a reputation to be one of the topmost tourist destinations in the world. For the host community out there tourism has a great impact. Such impact is positive and negative as well. The effects of tourism can be overwhelming. Changes in natural environment are one big factor. It do helps fund generation, preservation of economy etc The field trip made to South Bank for this project has given the team powerful insights about the various aspects and issues faced by the society owing to tourism. It has made us realize what the importance of sustainable tourism is. Government here promotes tourism as it is offering a potential opportunity for job creation, income generation for the nation and revenue creation for the government. No matter how fruitful the industry be, it has a destructive force associated with it. Such destructive force is associated with negative external factors and such problems were viewed and understood in this trip. Only with proper planning and effective management sustainable tourism can be developed. Eco tourism will further make tourist places a medium to conserve nature which will further increase their popularity and demand in the market. Teenage Fanclub At The Marquee free essay sample

Teenage Fanclub are the most hideous, repulsive, talentless schmucks Ive ever seen or heard. Theyre about as attractive as the puss-filled scabs on my knees, and do they actually consider that irritating crap that they play music? Since a lot of Teenage Fanclubs songs are about imaginary people, I decided to open my review with my own creation of the thoughts of an imaginary person. After all, what could be more imaginary than obnoxious comments about a brilliant band? Anyway, the Scottish foursome recently played a show at the Marquee in New York City, promoting their third album, and U.S. debut, Bandwagonesque. The crowd, which was large and diverse, consisted of everything from punks, hippies, and clueless businessmen, to enthusiastic stagedivers and air-rolling high school kids. Nonetheless, I was able to get a comfortable spot right in front of the stage, and a picturesque view of the young band. We will write a custom essay sample on Teenage Fanclub At The Marquee or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page They looked almost as perfect as they sounded, pounding out most of the tracks from their latest album, as well as other favorites like God Knows Its True, So Far Gone, Everybodys Fool, Free Again, and Everything Flows. They even performed a hilarious version of a certain over-rated Seattle bands teen anthem, on request of a fan who jokingly blurted it out. Teenage Fanclub also kept the audience entertained by talking to us in between songs. Theyd do and say the funniest things. The audience loved it. Some fans even threw presents on stage. Teenage Fanclub is a talented rock band and they couldnt have performed better. The only thing I missed, which they did the last time I saw them, was seeing them trash the set. n
